Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him."
John 6:27
Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us is God, who also has sealed us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.
2Corinthians 1:21,22
In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.
Ephesians 1:13,14
A seal is legally binding contract placed upon an agreement or a person.
When God the Father placed His seal on Jesus Christ, He was validating His identity, approving of who He was and declaring Jesus’ authority to fulfill a specific purpose.
The Father declared Jesus to be the Son of God when He spoke words ‘This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased’ at His baptism and was sealed as the Holy Spirit came down upon Him. The Father spoke those same words when Jesus was on the Mount of Transfiguration with Peter, James, and John. The Father then spoke an additional word to the men telling them to “Follow Him.” We are to do the same.
The Father gave Jesus full authority to be the intercessor between Him and man providing eternal salvation to everyone the Father had given Him. When you choose to believe in Jesus Christ as your Savior, you became His child and were marked in Him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit.
Our identity as a child of God is more about whose we are rather than what we are or do. The Holy Spirit takes pleasure in affirming His truth to you. The truth that you are His beloved child.
Your Heavenly Father will extend His Hand to you, and when He does, He will wait for you to place your hand in His.
