My Daughter, Take My Hand and Be Self-controlled

Galatians 5:22,23 But the fruit of the Spirit is… self-control. Against such there is no law.

Titus 2:11-13 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ,

1Corinthians 9:27 But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified.

1Peter 1:13 Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;

Proverbs 25:28 Whoever has no rule over his own spirit Is like a city broken down, without walls.

Colossians 3:23,24 And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.

Hebrews 6:10 For God is not unjust to forget your work and labor of love which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister.

Jesus' words in Matthew 5:10-12 Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Thank You Heavenly Father

Your love, the love of Jesus Christ and the power of Your Holy Spirit will always help me to be self-controlled.

Jesus calls you blessed if you have a heart attitude of self-control especially when you face opposition. Opposition can come from different sources. You can receive it through other people’s words and actions. You can also receive it because of your own thoughts, words, and actions. How you address that opposition will determine if you reap blessings or curses.

Self-control can be easily misinterpreted. Self-control does not mean you meet life issues motivated by your own emotions, impulses, or desires. If you do this, you are listening to your flesh or the enemy and you can allow him to produce bitterness, revenge, fear, despair, and a whole host of other curses.

As a believer, if you walk in the Spirit, if you are led by the Spirit, and if you obey the Spirit, you will surrender to the work of the Holy Spirit in your life. He will produce self-control in your life as you face opposition. The result of yielding to the Holy Spirit will be blessings, joy, exceeding gladness, and a great reward in Heaven.

My Daughter, when you are facing a difficult something or someone, take Jesus’ hand and let Him lead you. You are not experiencing anything that everyone else has not experienced at some point in their life. Even Jesus displayed self-control when He stood before those who were calling for His death.

In 2Peter 1:5-8 Peter tells us how to develop self-control.

But also, for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
