Do Not Grieve the Holy Spirit
Updated: Oct 5
My Daughter, Take My Hand and Do Not Grieve the Holy Spirit
Ephesians 4:30-32 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.
1Thessalonians 5:19 Do not quench the Spirit.
1Corinthians 6:19,20 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's.
Ephesians 1:13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise . . .
Titus 3:4-6 But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior . . .
2Peter 1:21 for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.
Romans 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.
Galatians 5:16,17 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish.
Thank You Heavenly Father
Your love, the love of Jesus Christ and the power of Your Holy Spirit will always reveal truth to me.
I do not think you willingly set out to grieve the Holy Spirit. You end up grieving the Holy Spirit when you choose to live the way you did before salvation and to do what is right in your eyes instead of listening to the Holy Spirit.
Chapter four of Ephesians gives you a detailed list of the behaviors that grieve the Holy Spirit.
When you choose not to be guided by the Holy Spirit, you will lie; you will let anger control your actions; you will steal; you will use abusive words; you will choose bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, evil speaking and malice.
But the Holy Spirit is always willing to show you the way out of every behavior that disobeys God. He tells you In Ephesians 4:32, that the way out is through being kind, tenderhearted, and forgiving one another, even as Christ forgave you.
It is with the forgiveness Jesus Christ extended to you through the cross and the power of the Holy Spirit, that you can choose to forgive others or ask to be forgiven.
My Daughter, remembering who you are in the Lord from Ephesians 5:8-10 will help you walk in the Spirit.
For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), finding out what is acceptable to the Lord.
