My Daughter, Take My Hand and Pray for Those who Spitefully Use You

Jesus said in Luke 6:27,28 "But I say to you who hear: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, and pray for those who spitefully use you.

Leviticus 19:17,18 'You shall not hate your brother in your heart. You shall surely rebuke your neighbor, and not bear sin because of him. You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the children of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the LORD.

Jesus said in Luke 6:35,36 But love your enemies, do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High. For He is kind to the unthankful and evil. Therefore be merciful, just as your Father also is merciful.

Jesus said in Matthew 5:43-45 "You have heard that it was said, 'YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR and hate your enemy.' But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.

1Peter 3:8,9 Finally, all of you be of one mind, having compassion for one another; love as brothers, be tenderhearted, be courteous; not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary blessing, knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing.

Thank You Heavenly Father

Your love, the love of Jesus Christ and the power of Your Holy Spirit will always show you how to pray for your enemies.

Luke 6:27,28 is a powerful verse when you are undergoing persecution from others especially when they are friends or family. It gives you step by step directions for you and them.

The first step is to choose to love your enemies. If God is telling you to love your enemies, it must not only be possible, but it must be doable. It is with the Spirit you will be capable of doing this.

Jesus demonstrated the type of love you should have toward them when He forgave all your sins on the cross. If you are to follow His example, you must forgive. It cannot matter if they hate you, curse you, spitefully use you, or persecute you, you must still forgive them. Jesus forgave you and gave you His power to do the same.

Doing good to those who hate you may mean you choose never to gossip to anyone about how they have treated you.

Blessing those who curse you is a step deeper in your obedience to Christ. As they come to your mind, can you ask God to give them His best? God wants that for them and you.

As you pray for your enemies your prayers must not be self-serving. Ask God what His will is for them and pray that.

God is the power behind all prayers, my Daughter, so pray and wait for the good God promises in Proverbs 16:7:

When a man's ways please the LORD, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.
