Pray!

Welcome to the Introduction to Section Five where you will be encouraged in your prayer life.

Jesus said in Matthew 6:9-13:

In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation,But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

Prayer is a Spiritual Discipline designed by the Father, taught by Jesus, and guided by His Holy Spirit to help you to come into His presence and to know Him intimately and for you to know who you are in Jesus Christ.

In Matthew 6:5-16 Jesus teaches you about prayer.

In His sample prayer, He gives us a way to draw near to God.

You start by praising Him as Our Father.  You acknowledge that even His name is sacred and worthy to be reverenced.

You declare that His kingdom, not the world’s kingdom, is the kingdom you want to be a part of here and now.

You trust that He will provide everything you will ever need each day remembering His mercies are new every morning.

You recognize your sin and know your need for forgiveness.  With your forgiveness, He shows you the need to forgive those you have been holding a record of wrong against.

You ask for His protection from the evil one who is continually tempting you to sin knowing that in and through Him you have deliverance.

You end your prayer by praising Him for His forever kingdom, full of power and glory.

In this section, you will come to value the gift of prayer.

God has extended His Hand to you, and He will wait for you to place your hand in His.
