My Daughter, Take My Hand and Walk in Humility

1Peter 5:5-7 Likewise you younger people, submit yourselves to your elders. Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for "GOD RESISTS THE PROUD, BUT GIVES GRACE TO THE HUMBLE." Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

Ephesians 5:1 Therefore be imitators of God as dear children.

Jesus said in John 5:30 I can of Myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is righteous, because I do not seek My own will but the will of the Father who sent Me.

Mark 8:34 When He had called the people to Himself, with His disciples also, He said to them, "Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.

Micah 6:8 He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the LORD require of you But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God?

Proverbs 15:33 The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom, And before honor is humility.

Philippians 2:3-11 Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others. Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Thank You Heavenly Father

Your love, the love of Jesus Christ and the power of Your Holy Spirit will always help me to be humble.

Jesus Christ demonstrated the posture of humility before the Father and us. From being our Creator, to His humble birth and to His perfect sacrifice on the cross, Jesus submitted humbly to the will of His Father.

Humility is a heart attitude that should be the motivation behind every one of our thoughts, words and deed.

I do not think humility comes easily to us. From birth, we had to assert ourselves to receive what we wanted. Then as we grew we had to be repeated told to wait, to put others before ourselves and to do what Jesus would do.

Denying your own wants and desires that do not align with what God wants for you will produce patience in you. Denying your painful emotions is different. Burying the pain from hurts is not humility. It only gives space for the enemy to keep reminding you of the pain which will be like a re-wounding.

Instead patiently give God room in your heart to move by being honest with yourself and God. He wants you to be honest with Him. That is the way for you to receive from Him.

Silence before God gives Him space to speak to your heart. As you wait for His answer, choose to be patient with yourself as you wait.

My Daughter, humility is a spiritual discipline that is birthed from your faith and trust in God alone. It is then nurtured by the actions found in Colossians 3:12,13:

Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do.
